AREAS OF THE CHARITY
All Volunteers need to undertake a general Health & Safety Induction and read and complete a few forms. You can now do all this via our Website. When you have returned all your forms marked in Red to us, we will then contact you to arrange some Training in the primary volunteer opportunity you have chosen. You can either post them or email them to vanessa@animalcare-lancaster.co.uk

THE CHARITY SHOP - MORECAMBE
40 Claremont Road (off Regent Road)
This is a valuable source of income for the charity and shop assistants are always needed, whether it be only a morning a month or an afternoon every week, or whatever is convenient to you. There are lots of jobs associated in running the shop which you could volunteer for (sorting the stock, pricing the stock, serving in the shop,etc.). Ring Vanessa on 01524 65495 between 11am-3pm to find out more. Please note you must be over 18 years old to help in the shop.
THE KENNELS, BLEA TARN RD - SCOTFORTH
Help is never turned away for assistance in ‘mucking out’, feeding the Animals and general duties once you have taken part in the health and safety induction..
For those of you with specialised skills, joiners, builders, electricians, etc., there are always little jobs that need doing. You just need to attend an induction once so ring the sanctuary to find out when the next inductions are or email vanessa@animalcare-lancaster.co.uk
CATS & RABBITS
Do you want to spend time with our cats or rabbits. Most enjoy human contact and the ones who are a little timid and shy will benefit from gentle interaction with volunteers.
DOGS
We are happy to induct anyone over 18 years old for dog walking.
FOLLOW UP VISITS
When we have rehomed the animals, we always like to ensure they are settled and happy and that the new owners are coping. We rely on Volunteers to help us to do this. It is very rewarding seeing the dogs in their new homes. If you are interested in becoming a Follow Up Home Checker and you are over 21 years old - please ring Vanessa on 01524 65495 between 11am-3pm to find out more. Please note we do have to undertake Criminal Records Bureaux checks on all HOME VISITORS.
FOSTER HOMES
Long term Foster Homes are always being sought for the older animal that would be hard to re-home but deserves a little comfort and love in its old age. Short term Foster Homes for those animals that need a little extra care before being re-homed are also needed.
MISCELLANEOUS SMALL ANIMALS
We always have a variety of miscellaneous animals whether it be rats, gerbils mice, etc., and human contact helps with their social skills. Please note you must be over 18 years old to help here or be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
CONTACTS
The Kennel and Shop are always looking for resources, whether it be IT Equipment, Stationery, Office Furniture, Construction Materials for the animal shelters, printing, etc. You may know someone who is throwing something away or who would be willing to reduce or waiver their costs\fee. If so, please let us know.
FUND RAISING EVENTS
Help is always greatly appreciated on the day, manning stalls, serving refreshments, etc. However, there is always the build up to the event; collecting bric-a-brac, baking cakes, washing teddies, promotional activities, etc. You may even know someone famous who would be willing to open our events. If you are interested in helping with Fund Raising - please ring Debbie Baxter on 01524 841819 and leave a message if she is not available - to find out more.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Are there any Accountants, Advertising, Marketing, PR, Solicitors, Teaching, specialists you know of or are you one. A lot of our costs go on professional fees and any marketing expertise that would help the Kennels to become better known will never be turned away. We also want to utilise our Conference Room at the Kennels by providing Educational Events to promote good animal care in Schools.
SPECIALISED SKILLS
Are you a Builder, Electrician, Joiner, Plumber, General ‘Jack of all Trades’ – if so, your help is always needed on a random basis when the need arises.
As you can see, there is some way anyone can help. Everyone has a skill, contact or knowledge that could move Animal Care forward and sustain its future. Your help really can make a difference!
Please help us to help you to help the animals by contacting Animal Care, Blea Tarn Road, Scotforth, Lancaster, LA2 0RD – Tel: 01524 65495 (11AM-3PM)
