Volunteering

If you want to volunteer we welcome all helpers but due to the risks involved with being around animals we have to set certain rules.

The basics are:

  • All volunteers (over 18 years old) have to undergo the health and safety induction and complete the relevant animal induction for the type of animal they wish to work with.
  • All volunteers under 18 years of age or who require support to enable them to volunteer must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult/carer at all times who has completed the health and safety induction and if volunteering via an organisation the organisation must be registered first (please see notes below).

Process for volunteering with the animals if you are attending via an organisation:

Please get the health and safety officer for the organisation to complete the ORGANISATIONAL VOLUNTEERING FORM and follow the instructions given on the form and then each support worker/ responsible adult over 18 years old must complete the PROCESS FOR VOLUNTEERING AS AN INDIVIDUAL.

Process for volunteering with the animals as an Individual:

Please fill in a INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER FORM either here or from the Centre.

You then need to attend a health and safety induction. These are held at the sanctuary on Sunday mornings at 9:00am and last approximately 45 minutes. Places are limited and you must book onto one by ringing 01524 65495.

Process for all other types of volunteering (for example home checks, fundraising etc)

Please fill in the INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERING FORM and return to the centre and we will contact you with further details within three weeks.

Different ways in which you can help:

As you can see, there is some way anyone can help. Everyone has a skill, contact or knowledge that could move Animal Care forward and sustain its future. Your help really can make a difference!

If you have any questions regarding volunteering please do not hesitate to email Linda at linda@animalcare-lancaster.co.uk or phone 01524 65495.

We look forward to you joining our team.
