Dachshund , Male , 4 years 2 months old
Digby can be a difficult little boy who is still getting used to being in kennels. He loves a good walk - for little legs he will walk for miles. Digby is house trained and we have been told is good with other dogs, but after assessing him we feel he would be better as the only dog in his new home. He is quite unpredictable and is very yappy when with other dogs. Digby is also very yappy on the lead, but with work and training he is improving slowly, and if controlled walks very well. He doesn’t really like being cuddled or ask for much attention until he knows you, but this could be due to not feeling settled in the kennels. Dachshunds are a wonderful breed, but we feel he would be better with an owner who has had the breed before or has experience of dogs that are reactive on lead.
The Animal Behaviour section listed here is a guide only and is formed by staff observations within the time the animal has been present. It is not definitive and therefore prospective owners should monitor behaviour of the animal in their own environment and form judgements of suitability.
